Learning Objectives Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to: - Discuss the importance of appropriate diagnosis in bipolar disorder patients, especially considering the alarming rate of misdiagnosis;
- Detail the clinical implications of early pharmacologic intervention in the treatment of bipolar
disorder;
- Review pharmacologic therapeutic options for treating bipolar disorder in terms of efficacy and safety profiles and use this information to select patient-specific pharmacologic therapy;
- Distinguish between the roles of the psychiatrist and PCP in diagnosing and managing bipolar disorder.
